Sailing Lessons

Sometimes life gives us choices,
but quite often that is not true.
Now, since you died, my life has changed. . .
I'm learning to live without you.

It never really is easy.
     It's sad. I hurt and I cry.
Over and over my mind asks the question,
"Why did you have to die?"

Yes, it's true that's one of life's questions
whose answer I never will know.
So I try to accept and keep moving ahead,
readjust, learn new ways, heal and grow.

I promise that I'll keep on trying
even though there are times I might fail.
And one day, like a boat from the shoreline,
out into the calm I will sail.

". . . but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:31
