Forever is a Long Time

You said you'd stay forever
and that you'd never leave.
Then death crept in and stole  you,
and left me behind to grieve.

But death does not play favorites,
that's something we always knew.
So here I am now, by myself,
living my life without you.

If I could have just one wish
I know what that would be:
That God would send you back to Earth
to spend more time with me.
